Talk about profane

Ann Coulter use the word "faggot" when referring to John Edwards. That would be bad enough I guess, but we expect that from her. It was the reaction in the crowd that really gets me. Cheering and whooping at the American Conservatives Union (the video is in the link). And some wonder why it's difficult to tell a spoof apart from the real thing at Conservapedia. Talk about profanity (That link is the other post I made to day, a comparison of left and right blogs and profanity... the comparer made a mistake). AndrewSullivan has more on this. He's right. I voted for Ronald Reagan and admittedly over the years have become more liberal, but this is just another indication to me that what it means to be "conservative" to day has moved away from me too.

John at Americablog has in interesting point. Apparently none of the news agencies, NYTimes, etc have reported on this. Contrast this with the media coverage of Barbara Streisand telling a heckler to shove it. Or as one commenter on his blog states:

Edwards/Kerry state the truth - that Mary Cheney is a lesbian - and all hell breaks loose.

Coulter calls Edwards a faggot.

[crickets]

Might I add that when Edwards was stating the fact that Mary Cheney is a lesbian he was doing it in a supportive, respectiveful manner (whether he was doing it for political reasons or not)... Coulter calling Edwards a faggot was anything but.

I always considered myself a moderate (to the left of center). Now, the more the fundamentalists push, the more I push back.

Polarization hurts us all but I don't see a solution.
