Week in the Life: Day 5
Rough day.
6:30am I got up, ate and went to work.
7:00am Emma and Guy got up and ready for day camp.
8:30am Guy took Emma to day camp.
and the problem began. Emma didn’t want to go to camp. She has had her good and bad days, mostly enjoying her camp (she loves music, dance and drama), but today she was tired and it was outing day (to the park). She didn’t want to go and as they got there, she had a breakdown (I’m glossing over that.. it was not pretty)… to the point that Guy couldn’t take her.
She was given a consequence if she didn’t calm down and go…
No TV shows for 3 days.
She continued.
A hour or two later, a new added consequence (we try to make them natural consequences of the action).. if she continued to tantrum and not go, we’d have to cancel the trip to San Diego and Legoland this weekend (by not going, we have a hard time working, which means we have to make up for it during the weekend).
She refused to go and to calm down.
Legoland was out (which bummed us, we were actually looking forward to going).
12:00pm Guy brought her home. She played upstairs (no TV and had to play alone since we had to work).
3:00pm I finished work and came upstairs. Cleaned kitchen, read a little (book 7!). Guy worked and Emma drew in her room.
4:00pm I took Emma and we went to the garden center to get plants for the courtyard. She wanted to buy a gardening toy, but she didn’t have enough saved allowance and though I might have been inclined to help her (always encourage the gardening!), today wasn’t supposed to be a ‘fun’ day for her.
5:30pm Started cooking supper. Emma wanted to watch her normally alloted show.. she was reminded why she couldn’t. She said “ah” and went and drew some in her room.
6:30pm Supper, chicken tamales, corn, salad. We had a nice supper. Emma is being a sweetheart.
7:00pm Guy and Radek clean up, I read.
7:30pm Guy and I play cards with Emma. She wins… again 
8:15pm Emma gets ready for bed: change, brush teeth, 2 stories, 1 pretend story, 2 songs.
8:45pm Emma is asleep. I read for 45 minutes, Guy works
9:30pm Guy, I and Radek watch a documentary about ‘Queer Cinema’
10:45pm I get a little more reading in, Guy a little more work.
11:00pm Bedtime.
