Yesterday could have been a disaster, by a confluence of events and scheduling we had a very loaded schedule. Emma is a sweeting and most of the time good-natured, but she can...well.. have her moments, especially when stressed.
So, first it was school.
Then at 2-3 was a dentist appointment for Emma to fill two cavities.
Then at 3:30-4:15 was a make-up music class (from a class she took last semester)
Then at 4:30-5:30 was her first 'Acrosports' fitness class (kind of a pre-gymnastics she takes with her two friends)
Then from 5:30-7:00 was getting home and eating supper
Then at 7:30-9:00 was my Tae Kwon Do class she wanted to go to with me (to watch and see if she liked it.)
Then bed time.
It could have not gone so well...
But it was a wonderful time.
We almost NEVER have that full of a schedule (we try not to schedule that much in a day, especially extracurricular), but it was a confluence of one-time and regular things.
And the entire day Emma was sweet, happy, well-behaved, excited, fun to talk to, funny and just a great pleasure to be around.
We rushed from one thing to the next without any problems or complaints (from her or me :), was everywhere on time and we both had a great time at our respective appointments.
I was particularly pleased to see her sit there for 90 minutes while I took my TaeKwondo class. I know that if _I_ had to sit through someone else's class late at night after spending the day at the dentist and other classes and tired, _I_ would have been complaining.
But Emma was sweet and cute. She gave me high fives as I came walking by (after doing a practice of kicks) and cheered me on when I was sparring (and failing miserably).
She is a delight to be with most of the time, but yesterday she was a super delight all the time and at a time when she had every right not to be.
Sometimes parenting is just a blast.
