Ouch, San Francisco and the bay area CRUSHED all previous heat records since recorded time yesterday.
It wasn't just very, very hot, the weather service said, it was "excessively hot," and the official excessive heat warning will remain in effect today.
Glad I work in a basement office today. Speaking of heat...
(and no, I will not claim that this week's record-breaking heat has anything to do with global warming, single instances such as this can happen with or without climate change...)
Huge study just came out confirming that climate change is happening on a world-wide, continental scale.
And a new study out in Nature of Antarctic ice cores confirms and extends that yes, indeed, the CO2 levels and temperature levels are the highest seen.. not in 400,000 years, not in 650,000 years, but 800,000 years. Even when taking into account a hypothesized 400,000 year cycle in those levels, we are beyond the highs previously.
Yes, indeed, it is getting hot in here.

I am so not ready for the summer. It's supposed to hit 99 here on Sunday and then probably into the 100's next week. Living here, we should be used to it, but HOLY CRAP! They are saying we might hit the 120's this year. That's just not right! :)
