Sarawak, or The world is too big and life is too short

So my first stop after Singapore was Kuching, the provincial capital of Sarawak, a semi-autonomous region of Malaysia on the island of Borneo. The place was like out of a movie, every movie with magical, lush, deep jungles. But it was sooo much more, like every movie rolled into one with the bonus being that it was real.
I had planned travel by train and go up the Malaysian peninsula to jungle trek in a national park there, but that fell through. Then someone I met suggested Air Asia and Borneo. I found a flight fo 60 dollars round trip to Kuching. There were several national parks and an fascinating culture to discover there. I only had 4 days before Guy and Emma came to Bali where I’d meet them, so I decided to “wing it,” so to speak, to Borneo!
And the flight began Tuesday night…
