End of the decade, a blue moon

Trey | December 30, 2009

The last blue moon was 20 years ago, the next is in 28 years. What is a blue moon called when it occurs on the last day of the last year of the decade?  An azure moon?

The Green Revolution accelerates

Trey | December 27, 2009

The Green revolution in Iran continues. I am riveted by it. Eventually, people can’t be held back from real tyranny. What is happening in Iran will have more influence on peace than much else that we can do there. I don’t believe, like with any revolution, that the outcome will be utopia, but a new direction from the status quo is hope.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Iranians today. You can follow what’s going on there on Andrew Sullivan and Enduring America among other sites.. but barely at all on the traditional media (CNN, Fox, MSNBC, etc.) which again are just proving they are useless for news and facts.

This YouTube shows a revolutionary mob stopping an execution while be fired on:

Amazing. Andrew Sullivan has more today of other protesters taking over buildings and vehicles.

(sadly, that didn’t save these two teenagers long ago. Don’t get me wrong, I _know_ that this won’t be the end of all persecution in Iran as the move away from dictatorship didn’t in Iraq, but it is a harbinger of future hope).

Marriage Equality In New York State?

Trey | December 2, 2009

Passed the Assembly, close vote today in the senate, but I don’t have my hopes up. We’ll see.

Let’s protect marriage, well except…

Trey | December 1, 2009

you know, when it impacts them:

A group is trying to get a referendum on the CA ballot that would ban divorce and protect marriage. Well, the group that lead the fight against marriage equality in this state isn’t supporting _that_ referendum. Because it’s ‘impractical.”  So, protecting marriage when it is infringing on their freedom to do as they wish with their marriage is impractical, but ripping another’s rights away, fine.

Cheney is bitter and repulsive

A former VP accuses a sitting president of treason: Bitter And Afraid – The Daily Dish | By Andrew Sullivan.

A new low for American politics.

Look, I am unconvinced that adding more troops to Afghanistan quagmire will do anything. Obama promised to do that a year ago, nothing surprising there, and I disagreed with it then. Too little, too late. We should have done that something like 8 years ago. But for a former VP to not only criticize a sitting president for doing something HIS administration should have done (committed fully to Afghanistan) and for something HIS administration also did (try terrorists on American soil), and then accuse that sitting president of aiding and abetting the enemy (the definition of treason), well.. wow, really, it’s repulsive. And deeply sick and hypocritical.
